Long Overdue

Yes, I’ve been a bad blogger. Time has gotten away from me and I apologize. Here’s what’s been going down.

FHSU – I’ve been working on the Fort Hays State University Foundation site. All has gone pretty well. Stressful at times, but it is all downhill from here. The site is live at the time of this writing. Please check it out and let me know what you think. This is the largest redesign that I’ve done so far, and, I reckon, the most successful. Having a long leash is pretty beneficial in web development and the Foundation project gave me the chance to try some new things design-wise.

NEW - I’m working on a project that is just in the beginning stages. Besides the regular work that I do for the company, I am starting to get into some web application management and implementation. I’m pretty excited about this opportunity although a little apprehensive at what’s to come. A short stint in London may be involved.

USAR - Over the last weekend I spent a few days in the field and qualified with the M16 rifle.  A few weeks back I went to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin for training on a new supply system.  The class was rather dull, and I learned more in the last day than I had learned in the week prior.  It uses Oracle and I’ve learned enough about databases to be able to make this system do exactly what I’ve been wanting/needing to do for the past year.  Thankfully the Army is getting somewhat forward thinking, and I’m hoping that this trend continues.

Life – My wife is on her way back from California with our nephew.  He is coming to Kansas for the summer.  He’s 11 years old and I’m not sure if I can keep him entertained.  Any ideas on what 11 year olds do for fun?  This should be interesting.  He’s a great kid, I’m just worried that he’s going to be bored here.

I finally got rid of my old school phone (Kyocera 7135).  My Blackberry is my new best friend.  Thank you RIM.

I think that catches you all up to the last week or so.  I really will try to post more often.  Until next time, thanks for reading.
